Our Story
Dynamic Performance Fitness was built through experience, adversity, and purpose—not trends.
The Foundation
John Wheeler grew up in South Florida, immersed in sport and competition, where discipline and preparation were learned early. Those values carried him into the United States Marine Corps, where physical readiness became a professional requirement and mental resilience was forged through service.
Injury, Adaptation, and Perspective
Years of high physical demand via the Marine Corps and injuries from serving had led to multiple injuries and surgeries, resulting in a medical retirement in 2015. Training was no longer about pushing limits; it became about learning how the body truly moves, adapts, and breaks down under stress.
That shift changed everything and is what led to what Dynamic Performance Fitness stands for.
Rebuilding Through Knowledge
With support from veteran organizations including Semper Fi & America’s Fund, Boot Campaign, Catch A Lift Fund, and Warrior Wellness Solutions, John rebuilt his body while diving deep into corrective exercise, biomechanics, fascia, and sustainable performance training. What began as personal recovery evolved into a professional mission to help youth athletes, everyday parents, and those seeking a more innovative, safer approach to reaching, achieving, and maintaining their health and fitness goals.
From Purpose to Practice
John earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Sports Science and multiple advanced certifications in performance training, corrective exercise, and sports nutrition. His education continues through graduate study at The University of Florida in Applied Physiology & Kinesiology (Human Performance), where he is graduating Spring 2026. It is shaping a system that prioritizes movement quality, durability, and long-term results.
Dynamic Performance Fitness Today
After shortly relocating to Clayton, North Carolina, John founded Dynamic Performance Fitness to serve youth athletes, adults, and veterans with training rooted in assessment, accountability, and intelligent progression, not shortcuts or quick fixes.
The mission is simple and unwavering:
build resilient athletes and individuals who are prepared for sport, service, and life.
